Belonging

Posted By Snow at 12/27/2011 3 comments

I dream of watching the Milky Way الحمد لله

I had the most wonderful dream last night. In my dream, I was someone good, beautiful & special. Mostly, I feel I'm the good, valuable person that I had wished so much to become since I was a child. Child me had prayed to Allah SWT: "Dear Allah SWT, when I grow up I want to always be a good person. I want to be sinless, isn't it easy I'll just not do whatever You forbids me."

But, when she grew up...

She becomes the one she never wanted to be. And so, I reserve myself in my sanctuary where I wouldn't be the monster to the world. [Q8:10-11] Though, I still think of how nice it would be if things were as I wished for. So, I want to thank Allah (SWT) for that dream.

For once in my life, I feel I'm loved and belong. & I wish my final sleep promise me that.

Rip Currents

Posted By Snow at 12/20/2011 3 comments

A rip current pushes a swimmer farther into the sea
To escape the current, swim parallel to the beach
DO NOT SWIM AGAINST IT

I've never experience this. But I read a drowning incident today, where 2 brothers drowned at a popular beach. They were young men, only 23 and 16. The father tried to rescue them but he was unsuccessful. The news reported, the brothers were suddenly pulled in by the current.

I assume it were rip currents. I learn about it in another recent incident. So I hope there is awareness about rip currents.

Rip currents are sea waves rushing towards the beach and then away from it. It does not pull a swimmer underwater - but it pushes a swimmer away from the beach & farther out to sea. Drowning deaths happens when the swimmer cannot keep himself afloat & swim to shore. This is due to fear, panic, exhaustion, or lack of swimming skills. It's the leading hazard for beach goers. In the US, one person drowns for every 4 days due to rip currents. [NOAA]

So if your ever get caught in a rip current:
#1 Remain calm to save energy.
#2 Don’t fight the current.
#3 Escape the current by swimming out parallel to the beach. If you can't swim out, float or calmly tread water. When out of the current, swim towards shore | more

Swim parallel to the beach or float DO NOT SWIM AGAINST IT

So have fun! & may you be safe. Wishing there are notice boards about hazards and ways to deal with it at the beach. | real life experiences

& condolences to the family.

O Yahya! Take hold of the Book with might

OK. So where did the muslims first immigrated to escape prosecutions in Mecca? To Abysinnia - a land under the christian King Negus. Of course, the Meccan Quraish pursued the muslims. & with precious gifts, they tried to persuade Negus to return the migrants.

But the King believed the muslims & allowed them to stay.

King Negus believed after hearing a part of Surah Maryam, narrating the story of Prophets John and Jesus. He listened until he wept and his beard was moist with tears. He then said, "The message brought by Muhammad and that was brought by Jesus are from a single source." He believed what the muslims state regarding Jesus. [Syed Maududi]

(Jesus) said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive. And (made me) dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."
[Holy Quran 19:30-33]
When Negus passed away, Rasulullah said "Beg pardon for your brother". Rasulullah drew them up in a row and offered prayer & recited four takbirs for him. [SM4.2078]

Fun Shine

I hope I hv my sense of humour back. I did enjoyed people with a sense of humour. Like this one friend. Her lil baby played with her handphone. & baby almost send her photo to her husband's friend. LOL! "That guy would've thought I'm flirting him!" Ha ha ha... Awh that totally will be something. Of course it isn't like the photo is anything much. "Just a plain boring one." Hi hi hi...

Note to self. Remember to not let baby play with handphone. (◠v◠)

There's also this time when they're trying to write a comforting letter to someone who lost a family member. I dunno why but I find this debacle hillarious. The message: "Pls be comforted, we all hv our time & you will see him again, Puan Sri." like in the hereafter, something like that. [Q13:23-24] It's supposed to be nice. & then she goes: "and thus you too will die, Puan Sri" (◠@◠) Argh.. Don't say that...

I wish I can remember many more...

Natural Wonders

Posted By Snow at 12/06/2011 2 comments

Oh isn't nature vacations breath taking. The shifting sand dunes, the spectacular Himalayas, the unknown deep ocean... & the volcanoes attesting the hot stuffs kms away beneath your feet.

Even nature as simple as the 4 seasons can be amazing, to some one who never experienced it. Like when I was a kid in Japan's cold winter. It's fun blowing fog every time I breathe or talk! o(◠v◠)o So... What more secrets the Earth has?

& imagine the nature exists since for millions of years ago, even before mankind?

And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein (something) of every beautiful kind. Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns (to Allah). [Holy Quran 50:7-8]

And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth (apart), and you will never reach the mountains in height. [Holy Quran 17:37]

People of The Book

Posted By Snow at 11/24/2011 3 comments

Oh Allah SWT... it's so beautiful.

By destiny, some VCDs came to my house. I think it's for christians, with a message "God is Love". So, may I say.. As a muslim, it is not foreign to me. We too believe in Allah the Most Merciful. The One God who has no equal.

And we believe Jesus is a servant of Allah SWT and a prophet. Actually we believe in all the prophets, from Adam to Muhammad - without any distinctions between them. [QA, Q3:81-86] We also believe in the 4 Holy Books - the Taurat, Zabur, Injeel & Quran. [QA] Believing all these are the pillars of faith.
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "My similitude in comparison with the other prophets before me, is that of a man who has built a house nicely and beautifully, except for a place of one brick in a corner. The people go about it and wonder at its beauty, but say: 'Would that this brick be put in its place!' So I am that brick, and I am the last of the Prophets." [Sahih Bukhari 4.56.735]
ماشاء الله yes, the religion is one.

The believers who "surrendered in peace to Allah" (muslim) from even before the Quran, is regarded as People of the Book. [Q28:52-53] Even in the time of Prophet Muhammad, there were christians & jew who believed and supported him. Some of the christians were:
  • Bahira, the priest who saw signs of prophethood in him
  • Waraqa Nawfal, who first counseled him [SB6.60.478]
  • King Negus, who sheltered them in Abysinnia [SM4.2078]
  • Addas, who offered him grapes & kissed him after Taif's rejection
  • His wife, Mariya al-Qibtiyyah, who bored him a son, Ibrahim
People of the Book can recognize him from their own Scriptures: "..the Prophet who can neither read nor write, whom they will find described in the Torah and the Gospel.." [Q7:157] Jesus himself had described him: "..a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad.."

His coming was known and expected by People of the Book.

He was the seal of the prophets. He was the last.

......................................... .........................................

BTW the Jerusalem Temple at the time of Jesus is fascinating! There were Zachariah , Yahya (John) , Maryam (Mary)... & oh they're so pure... With Maryam, the daughter of 'Imran, being among the best woman! [SB4.55.642] ماشاء الله

The grand extension of the Jerusalem Temple was also a marvel; a feat of ancient engineering, only to be destroyed by the Romans. Since then, Beit YHWH, hasn't been rebuilt again. [QA Isra]

But friends, there is Baitullah to turn to.
[Q2:144 | QA Qibla]

I seek refuge to Allah SWT from errors.
Only Allah SWT knows best.

I think this beautiful girl Abeer is Palestinian & she passed away
Bcoz of heartbreak? People can die of heart break. Even Israelis
She reminds me of Aisha Hassan Malik, but I hope Aisha is happier
Both girls are 10 yo, and their fathers were imprisoned

Ummm... I don't quite remember why I hv this photo ha ha..
But I wish these girls are Saudi doctors goofing around v(◠v◠)v

I love this collection of rocks.. It could've been jewels!
But some are rocks, some are jewels.. why is that? (◠-◠)

Race

Posted By Snow at 10/31/2011 3 comments

Even if a thousand times you deny
In your blood there is my breath

OK! So guess what race that guy is..

Obviously the imprinted language is Indonesian. So yeah - he's Indonesian. He speaks Indonesian. He eats, live and his family is Indonesian. But... he has a look, which is not the typical Indonesian look. Oh, how can he not look like his own race! (◠o◠) ماشاء الله

Malaysia have such foreign blood too - like Juliana Banos, Zara Salim Davidson, Zeti Akhtar... People who look foreign you expect them to speak British English. But they're actually locals, perhaps of mix parentage. So believe it or not, Juliana Banos can speak malay fluently. At first, some people thought this half-French can't speak malay. But she's as fluent as this German kid. (◠v◠)

So, that is the Indonesian & Malaysian people for your thought.

............................................. .............................................

Anyway. Let's get to the big question. WHAT IS RACE?

"A lot of the difficulty in talking about race has been a lack of agreement on what “race” means. In the past, the idea of pure races also included an ordering of certain races as inherently superior to others.

We reject this idea absolutely.

However, that doesn’t mean that there are no genetic differences between populations of different ancestral origin. A few of our features use the genome-wide data of reference populations from around the world to trace the origin of pieces of an individual’s genome.

Some customers have complex patterns depending on where their ancestors originated. These reference populations aren’t “races”; they’re representative samples of peoples who have lived in a single place for a very long time and have thus accumulated different sets of genetic variants over time." - Anne Wojcicki | ref

ماشاء الله so what... some people have accumulated such a rich gene pool - that they're beyond being defined as a single race? And thank you... Arabs or Jews aren't necessarily the superior race! Bigger maybe, ha ha... wait that depends. Coz when I went for hajj I sized up the arabs, & I think I wasn't such a midget.

As the month of hajj is here. Again I'm sharing this...

"All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action" - Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

from his Last Sermon
recited at Mt Arafat during his Farewell Hajj
