After Prophet Solomon ﷺ passed away, the Israelite divided themselves. The Land divided into the Kingdom of Israel (with the 10 tribes) & the Kingdom of Judah (with the Jews). Later, Israel fell to the Assyrians, while Judah fell to the Babylonians. The Babylonians destroyed the First Temple, and the Israelite were exiled — only the Samaritans survived & remained. Then came the Persians who rebuild the Second Temple — and some Jews returned from exile. But after the coming of Prophet Jesus ﷺ [QA], The Romans destroyed the Second Temple, and the Jews were exiled again — it was the Romans who renamed the Land as Syria Palaestina. When Caliph Umar al-Khattab took over from the Romans, under the Covenant of Umar, the Jews returned from exile. During the Islamic period, שלם the Dome of Rock was built. & the Muslims ruled the Land for about 12 centuries. But when the British came, they supported Zionism, in favor of establishing a Jewish state in Palestine (1917 Balfour Declaration). REF Jewish immigration into the Land was promoted, and in 1948 the State of Israel was declared. In 1967, they occupied more territories beyond the state borders (Gaza, West Bank). This occupation is the cause of the conflict. |
